We’re not a warehouse operation that discovered the aquatics market. We’re hobbyists who’ve kept marine tanks for over two decades — and eventually decided to build the kind of shop we always wished existed.
Our story
It started the way it starts for most of us — a single tank, a clownfish, and the slow realisation that this hobby has no off switch. Over the years, that curiosity turned into genuine expertise: water chemistry, coral husbandry, equipment, sourcing, acclimation. The kind of knowledge you only get from years of trial, error, and obsessive reading at midnight.
We ran physical shops for a number of years, which taught us a great deal about what customers actually need — and how rarely they can find it all in one place. Knowledgeable advice. Healthy stock. Honest product information. A team that genuinely cares whether your tank thrives.
Moving online was a deliberate choice. Without the overhead of a physical premises, we can focus entirely on what matters: sourcing better livestock, stocking a wider range of dry goods, and giving every order the attention it deserves. It also means we can serve customers across Northern Ireland, Ireland, and the EU — not just those within driving distance.
RC Aquatics is built on the principle that the people selling you your corals should understand corals. Every product we stock is something we’d consider for our own tanks. Every animal we ship is packed the way we’d want our own livestock packed.
How we got here
The hobby begins
First marine tanks set up. The fascination with reef ecosystems takes hold — corals, water chemistry, livestock sourcing. A passion that never really switched off.
Bricks and mortar
Years of running physical aquatics shops — learning what customers need, what good livestock looks like, and what separates a great supplier from a mediocre one.

A deliberate move to online-only — broader range, better sourcing, and the ability to serve customers across Northern Ireland, Ireland, and the EU without compromise.
